Installation/Stage 2

From Lanius CMS Wiki

Stage 2 - Configuration

On this page you can change settings of your main configuration, admin account and database. You can change these settings later through the admin interface, but you will not be able to access the administration backend if you do not remember the password of your administrator account.

  • Website URL - enter the URL of your site here (for example http://www.example.org/laniuscms/, be sure to specify the protocol (http://) and the trailing slash '/'
  • Website title - enter the name of your site here. This information will be used to identify your site in page titles
  • Extended admin name - you can leave this as the default (Webmaster) or change it to whatever you like
  • Username - this name will be used for administrator to login. A high security name is recommended or you may use the default (admin) for now and change it later
  • Password - this is the password for the admin name you've just provided. You may use the random one created for you or change it. A high security password is recommended - one that mixes numbers, upper- and lower-case letters and punctuation
  • Administrator email - this is the email address that notifications and sites forms will be sent to. It will not be disclosed by Lanius CMS automatic messages

Important: Make sure to write down the username and password you've just supplied to ensure you will be able to log into the site.

Installation - general, administration and database

General configuration, Administrator account and database

The second section of this page allows you to setup a database.

  • Database management system - from the drop down menu choose the database type you will be using. Gladius

DB and SQLite only need a database name (container folder name) and database table prefix

  • Database name - enter name of database where Lanius CMS tables will be created
  • Database tables prefix - you can leave this at it is, unless you have a need to change it. If you'd like to have multiple Lanius CMS installations sharing the same database, you can set for each installation a different prefix (for example ld2_, ld3_) so you can work on several versions of Lanius CMS at the same host
  • Database hostname - enter your database host name if different from the default (localhost)
  • Database username - enter the username that has write access to your database tables.

CREATE and DROP commands will be executed during installation and in future installations of components/modules

  • Database password - enter the password you're using for your database account/username

Some database systems are not enabled by default on PHP. Lanius CMS will report a red item for them in the installation stage or in the configuration panel. If you want to enable them, search the PHP manual for the proper extension and discover how to install and configure them. When you're not sure about database settings provided, you can click on Test database settings button to check connection with your database. After Verifying your settings click on hyperlink Click here to continue. Note: there is no database password support for Gladius DB and SQLite; this is due to a 3rd party software limitation.

Once finished configuring, proceed to Stage 3.
