The administration content menu is used to manage content from the administration backend.
Frontpage Manager
See also Home page.
You can set any content item or component instance as the FrontPage of your Lanius CMS site; all you need to do is create a content item and link to it from the first menu item at the top of the mainmenu. Even if the mainmenu Module is not published, your FrontPage will still display the Menu Item that is set as the top of the mainmenu list of items.
Please remember that your Frontpage is not the same as the content item set in your Frontpage component.
The Frontpage Manager shows all the published content items from your site marked as 'Show on Frontpage' (see Creating Items for more information). You can display any content within your site on the Frontpage regardless of which section/category the content belongs. So you are not limited to only displaying one particular category on the Front page e.g. News, but you can display items from any content section such as News, Articles, etc or anything else you have published.
Adding content to the Frontpage
To add or remove content from the Frontpage you may set the corresponding flag when in the content editing window under the "Publish" tab or from the Manage Content window by changing the content items parameters.
Resetting the Published status under the FrontPage Manager will Unpublish the item, you are also able to set group access permissions from the FrontPage Manager form.
Configuring the Frontpage
You may configure the display of the Frontpage by editing the menu item associated with it. You may configure:
- the total number of Items to display on the Frontpage
- the Toolbox items to display as a header to all the of displayed Items
- whether the Frontpage displays content items in two columns
Add/Edit Sections
The Section Manager is used to create sections for your content or to edit the details of existing sections. Sections will not be visible on your site unless the section has a published category in it and that category has a published item.
The Sections created and their status (published/unpublished) is shown in the Section manager. A section can have description text and an image associated with it.
Content Category
The category manager is used to create categories for your content or to edit the details of existing categories. Categories will not be visible on your site unless the category is in a published section and that category has a published item.
The categories created and their status (published/unpublished) is shown in the Manage categories window. A category can have description text and an image associated with it as well as group access permissions.
The management of categories, creation, edit, etc is accessed from the backend menu:
- Content
- Section(News/General etc)
- "Name" Content Categories.
- Section(News/General etc)
Default installation
The fullpack release installation comes with three default sections, one for newsflashes, one for news and one for general (static) content.
Static Content
The Static Content Manager is used to create and edit your content you have classified as ˜Static (which usually means that it will change infrequently). Static content is used for content items that do not fit into the News section/category/item structure.
Static content can be displayed in the Front Page Manager.
Content is created via the menu Content -> Static Content -> All Items in Static Content.
Menu items then available are:
- Publish
- Unpublish
- Archive
- New
- Edit
- Reorder
- Delete
and parameters such as Group access, Owner and Frontpage.
News
The News section contains two categories, Lanius CMS News and General News, Additional categories can be added using the Category Manager . A News item is the same as any other content item in structure (title, intro text and main body text).
Publishing items in the News section means that they are displayed via the relevant Main Menu News item. This menu item references the News section and as such there are a number of parameters that may be set from the mainmenu management window and selecting the News menu item.
The Latest News module controls the way selected content items are displayed, it can have any published Section or Category displayed in that modules position, it is not limited to the News section.
